La Maddalena, old fishermen village founded in 1770, is nowadays a touristic locality of the Maddalena Island south coast, the only one to be inhabited in the homonym archipelago, which is situated in front of the Gallura's coast. This archipelago is a National Park, composed by 7 islands and other minor islets, famous for the beauty of its landscapes, especially thanks to its colors: from the jade green to the turquoise blue for the sea, from the white to the pale pink for the sand, from the light orange to the deep green for the scrub land. Don't forget the camera! Easily reachable from Palau with shipping lines (about 15 minutes), La Maddalena draws each year more and more tourists because it is the only city where it is possible to stay in. Indeed, it offers a great choice of different accommodations as well as various touristic services, such as bars and restaurants, principally situated in the city center, around Piazza Garibaldi, and at night, a walk on the seaside will allow you to see the city from another eye. Also, don't miss the Museo Nino Lamboglia, museum of naval archeology, as well as the celebration of Santa Maria Maddalena on the 20/22 July. At last, be aware that it is possible to load your car on a ferry for La Maddalena, and then to discover driving the rest of the island, as well as the Caprera island, reachable by a bridge ; that is impossible for the minor islands, where you only can visit by boat or by feet, as in Cala Corsara.  continue
