Historic records relate that the original building was founded by the Friars (this is proved by the small church still present on the site); over the years it was turned into a flourishing farm as it can be inferred by the structure and also by the orchard. Because of the ancient features still visible (such as wooden walls, clay and straw bricks, stone pavements, wooden and iron-wrought pieces of furniture) the hotel is considered as a National Trust building. Its special location makes it unique: close to the mountains of the Nature Park 'Sette Fratelliì and just a 5 minute walk from the sea. All rooms are characterised by wooden pieces of furniture, iron-wrought beds, stone walls and floors, wooden ceilings. Some rooms are located in the most ancient part of the building, dating back to the nineteenth century, whereas some others are in the part of the Hotel which used to be a farm in the first years of 1900. The refurbishment of the Hotel safeguarded the features and the magical atmosphere of the original building. All rooms overlook the so-called 'cortiì, large courtyards that would serve as a meeting point for the farm's inhabitants. RESTAURANTS The Restaurant offers regional and international cuisine and has two main halls: 'sala del Reì (The King Hall) and 'sala della Corteì (The Courtroom). The restaurant is also equipped with a clay oven for preparing pizzas and a large barbecue for roasting and grilling. THE SWIMMING POOL Relax and fun by the large swimming pool of IL MONASTERO located right in the middle of the 'Giardini della Reginaì and surrounded by palm trees, waterfalls and lush vegetation. Within 20 km of the hotels there are many other small beaches and outstanding bays, all freely accessible and reachable in 15 min by car. IN THE SURROUNDINGS Travelling east- and westwards from the Hotel, the visitor can discover countless small bays characterised by white fine sand and crystal clear sea, but also long beaches, including 'Kala e Moruì, awarded with the 'Blue Flagì by the European Union for the clearness of its waters and the cleanness of his sand. This area boasts several archaeological sites such us 'Domus de janasì, small burial mounds dating back to 6000-3500 b. Chr., or the so-called 'Giants' Tombsì and the Nuraghe Cixilianiu.
