Alghero is a nice place to discover a corner of Sardinia, where people's faces, houses, the sound of the voices and the language give the impression of being in Catalonia. There is a very close relationship with Spanish people and because of this they often call Alghero "Barcelonet", which means "Little Barcelona". The city centre is very nice, with Gothic-Catalan Churches, beautiful fortified walls, the Aragonese towers and palaces, its traditions, customs, coral and filigree craft. Alghero is situated in the famous Riviera del Corallo, which offers kilometres of coast rich in little inlets that hide white sand beaches, surrounded by thick pinewoods, lonely creeks, jagged reefs wetted by the emerald sea. The beautiful sea colour, the smelling Mediterranean macchia and the typical cuisine of Alghero, famous for the delicious lobsters and the white wine, will make your stay here unforgettable. Near the city center there are the famous Caves of Neptune, in the beautiful promontory of Capo Caccia. During the night Alghero offers many possibilities, such as shows, festivals, nightclubs and discos.
